Ian Berry’s timeless portraits of dream-like and idyllic Whitby in 1974, capture tourists and town residents enjoying a leisurely Sunday, while overlooking the harbor from the hillside.
Henri Cartier-Bresson invited English photographer Ian Berry to join Magnum Photos in 1962. Berry is best known for his conflict reportage and he was one of only two photographers to document the Prague Invasion in 1968. His empathic humanitarian coverage has been received with great acclaim, particularly his work documenting the Apartheid in South Africa.
Giclée print, 16×20”, stamped w. Uneditioned.
Reproducing the original without alteration and enlarged to a 16″x20″ paper size, these Magnum Contacts offer a unique insight into the methods by which our photographers produced some of their best known images, by clearly showing the sequence of frames and the marks of the editing process on each sheet.
These prints are embossed ‘Magnum Photos Collection’ on the white border in the bottom right corner and hand stamped with the photographers copyright on the back.
