In February 1973, Steve McQueen and his girlfriend Ali MacGraw spent a few days in France for the release of the detective film in which they both starred, The Getaway, directed by Sam Peckinpah. The love story between the two American stars had begun on the set a few months earlier. It led to a five-year marriage which began in July that same year.
